How can I make a reservation?

How can cancel my reservation?

WIf you have booked via an online booking platform like or, you can only cancel your reservation via their website. Please understand that we cannot cancel any reservations that have not been made with us directly.

If you booked on or any other way with us directly, please send us an email with your cancellation request. Room cancellations cannot be made by phone. Please take a look at the cancellation policy, so you are aware of any deadlines and fees.

How can I change my reservation?

If you have booked via an online booking platform, please make any changes to your reservation through the platform.

Alternatively, you can also pay for your booking via PAYPAL – please use the following link and enter your booking reference as the subject:

If you booked with us directly, please contact us via phone or email. Based upon availability, we will make any possible changes free of charge. However, please note that there may be additional costs in making changes to existing reservations. Especially when you make date changes.


What time can I arrive?

Our reception is open until 6pm. In case of a late arrival we require a credit card as well as the expiry date. We will charge your card and place your room key inside the key box on the left side by the main entrance. On the day of arrival you can call 0049 461 80728510 in order to receive the code for your key box.
Rooms are available for check in at 3pm. In case of an earlier arrival, please let us know beforehand, we will do our utmost to have your room ready, however we cannot guarantee that the room will be available prior to 3pm – we happily provide you with free luggage storage, so you can leave your luggage with us in case your room is not ready in time.

What time can i sign out?
The room is yours until 10:30 am on the day of your departure. You are welcome to store your luggage free of charge with us after check out, but please collect it before 6pm that day.
What to do in case of an early departure?
Our reception opens at 8am. If you depart before then, just leave your room key in the postal box.


When do I need to pay for my room?
Payment for the entire stay is due upon arrival. You can pay by cash, debit or credit card.
If you booked a non-refundable rate, the total amount will be charged to your credit card, so you will only have to settle any extras (like breakfast or snacks) at departure.
How about breakfast? How much is breakfast?
Yes, you are welcome to have breakfast with us! For only €11 per breakfast (per day and per person). We take care to choose regional and certified organic products as far as possible and to keep food waste to a minimum. You can choose between the following breakfast times: 07:30 to 08:15, 08:30 to 09:15 and 09:30 to 10:15. ATTENTION: From 1 January to 15 March you can only have breakfast from 08:30, the offer at 07:30 is cancelled during this period! You can book your breakfast by e-mail or on arrival: Please let us know no later than 6pm the day before when you would like to sit at the breakfast table and how many people we can plan for. Do I have to bring bedlinens and towels?
We can provide you with bedlinens and towels at a one-time fee of 5€ per person.
However, you are welcome to bring your own bedlinens and towels with you.
And remember: if you booked via our homepage we will provide you linens and towels complementary.

We provide free WifI throughout the hostel.

Do you store luggage?
Of course! You can store your luggage free of charge in our luggage room. Just ask our staff at the reception.
Where can I leave my bike?
We got a bike shed.
We are happy to provide you with a key to our bike storage – however, please note that we will not take responsibility for your bike! Always lock the bike.
How about dogs?
Dogs are welcome! You can bring your dog for an additional one-time fee of 7€ per dog.
Bike Rental/ Can I rent a bike with you?
Yes! You can rent a bike with us. The fee for a bike is 8€ per day. Just ask our staff.
Washing machines/ can I wash my clothes anywhere?
Starting at 5pm you can use our washing machines and dryers at a fee. You can get the machine coins at the reception.
Do you have community rooms?
We have a community guest kitchen on the ground level just off the lobby area behind the breakfast room. The kitchen is open 24-hours and can therefore be used at any time. Additionally we have community areas to just hang out and chill, these are located off the lobby as well as on the first floor.
On the first and the second floor you will also find our shared bathroom facilities.
We ask you to leave all shared areas as you found and wish to find them!
Can I rent a hair dryer?
Hair dryers are available at reception.
Do you have smoking rooms?
This is a NON –SMOKING hostel – smoking is prohibited in the entire hostel!
Can I book a room with you if I am under aged?
In case you are under 18 we require a written authorization from your parents as well as your parent’s phone number.
What if I looked myself out of the room?
Please try to remember your key whenever you leave your room! Once the door closed it cannot be opened from the outside without a key! In case of a lock out, please see the staff at reception. We can let you back in.
However, if this happens, outside of our reception hours, please call the following emergency number: 0049 431 64064. Please note that there will then be a 25€ fee.


Arrival by train
Arriving at the main train station, start walking down towards the city, the hostel is located about 500 meters on the left side.
Where can I park my car?
In front of the hostel is a parking lane. This is a public parking lane and free of charge Monday-Friday from 6pm to 8:30am and on Saturdays starting at 2pm, Sundays are free of charge all day.
Alternatively, you can reserve a parking space in our parking lost at 9€ per car/day. The parking lost is approximately a three-minute walk from the hostel. We only have a limited number of parking spaces so we recommend you reserve up front, right when making your reservation. Upon arrival at the hostel, our reception staff will give you the key to the lot as well as the description on how to get there.
Where can I park my motor cycle?
If you arrive with your motorcycle, you are welcome to park the bike free of charge right behind the hostel. For details just ask our staff at reception upon arrival.


Is the Horstel barrier-free?
Unfortunately, we have no elevator installed in our hostel – the rooms and social areas (kitchen, lounges, etc.) are accessible only by stairs.
